Statistical Analysis as an Agentic Skill

Statistical Analysis, as an agentic skill, is the capability of an AI agent to apply descriptive and inferential statistical methods to data in order to summarize patterns, estimate quantities, test relationships, and quantify uncertainty.

When a task or subtask requires quantitative description, comparison, inference, or uncertainty assessment, this skill can be selected to prepare data, execute appropriate statistical operations, and produce outputs such as distributions, correlations, significance tests, confidence intervals, or model-based summaries.

Its strength is scalable, consistent computation over large or repetitive datasets, while its limitations include dependence on data quality, method choice, and assumptions that may affect interpretation.

In human–AI work, it may either substitute for manual calculation or collaborate with human analytical judgment, where the agent generates statistical evidence and the human evaluates validity, relevance, risk, and appropriate use.
